The Waterhouse, a 1930s warehouse converted into a palace of industrial chic by local design superstars Neri & Hu, is possibly the coolest hotel in the city.
The 19 boutique rooms are packed with individual pieces and art works from stars such as Arne Jacobsen and Tracey Emin. Rooms generally use raw materials, and feature touches like untreated concrete walls and bare hanging light bulbs. Corridors feature stairwells that lead nowhere, stencilled Kafka quotes and a barber chair.
