This cosy, family-run spot offers a hearty meat menu similar to many Xinjiang joints in town, but its super-friendly service elevates it above the others.
The basics are done well: the da pan ji (big plate chicken, 40RMB) and nang (flat bread, 3RMB) are both excellent. Their tender lamb skewers, with a nice balance of juicy lean meat and melting fatty chunks costed in just the right amount of spices are so good we voted their as one of our 50 best dishes in Shanghai earlier this year.
Also worth a try is the 'Nang fried meat flavour' (fried bread with mutton) from 18RMB and stir-fried agaric (muer, 25RMB). You can comfortably eat for under 30RMB/person here, but then you would miss out on the delicious 'Xinjiang pizza' (68RMB).
