Well folks, after ten years in business, it looks like it's time to say goodbye to a certain online grocer. Today (Fri 19), FIELDS
announced on its website that effective immediately, it will cease all operation.
Known for fresh products, customer service and convenience when it came to payment and delivery plans, FIELDS was founded back in 2009 by Chinese-American Steve Liang. The online grocery store was all about food safety, a big concern in Mainland China both then and now. But all good things come to an end, and FIELDS is officially shutting down.
According to the statement on its website, the company took into consideration the 'overall development strategy and business layout of Sun Art Retail Group' (its parent company) and made the decision to shut down as a result. One former FIELDS employee told us the company is wanting to 'explore a different direction', but what that means exactly still remains unclear. Will it re-brand and go the route of
Daliah? Only time will tell.
